We started writing Run to You after hearing the heartbreaking news that a dear friend had been diagnosed with cancer. It came from that raw, aching place of not knowing what to say, what to do, or how to make sense of it — but knowing we could always run under the wings of a loving Father.
When we recorded it, we only had the verses and chorus. No bridge.
Around the 3-minute mark in the recording, something happened we will never forget.
We were just noodling… no plan, no lyrics, no chords written down.
And then the Spirit showed up.
Camie knew exactly what to play. Emily just kept singing. The words, the melody, the chords — they poured out in real time, straight from our beautiful God. No edits. No rewrites. Just the moment as it was.
This song is our cry in the valley.
It’s for the moments when the answer is no, when your hands are shaking, when the dreams you held are shattered.
It’s a reminder that He pulls us close, into His arms, into His embrace… and we are loved.
